When Must Rain, Flooding, Standing Water or Severe Weather Stop Generator Use?

Water, wind and storm damage can change electrical, structural, ventilation and exhaust conditions at the same time. Do not use normal operation as the test after a weather event.

A weather-protected generator can still be affected by rising water, wind-driven rain, blocked airflow, debris, damaged exhaust, unstable foundations or flooded downstream equipment.

Keep people out of the affected area, use the approved site emergency process and contact local emergency and qualified electrical personnel. Do not walk through water to reach the generator or operate equipment to see whether it still works.
